comprehensive assessments

Understanding how the brain works can be a game-changer. My goal is to help your student:

  • Gain self-awareness about their cognitive strengths and challenges
  • Take pride in their abilities and leverage strengths for success
  • Understand why certain tasks are difficult and identify effective coping strategies
  • Find the right services and supports to maximize potential
  • Provide parents with clarity, appreciation for their child’s individuality, and a clear action plan

ASSESSMENT PROCESS

✅ Initial Consultation

  • A phone interview to discuss goals, history, and the need for an assessment
  • Review of school records, medical history, and previous evaluations
  • If assessment isn’t necessary, guidance is provided on next steps and interventions

✅ Types of Assessments

Educationally relevant evaluations may help determine:

  • Testing accommodations for standardized exams or academic settings
  • Processing differences (e.g., attention deficits, auditory/visual processing)
  • Learning disabilities (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia)
  • Cognitive or developmental delays
  • Emotional and behavioral factors (anxiety, depression, autism spectrum disorders)
  • Traumatic brain injuries and their impact on learning

✅ Assessment Plan & Structure

  • Tailored to the specific referral question(s)
  • Parent & teacher input gathered through interviews and rating scales
  • Sessions are kept within 2-hour windows to maintain engagement and motivation
  • Assessments are typically scheduled in the morning for optimal performance
  • Students should take any regular medications to ensure an accurate reflection of abilities

✅ What We Measure

Evaluations sample a wide range of skills, including:

  • Cognitive processing: memory, attention, executive functioning, speed, and problem-solving
  • Academic achievement: reading, writing, and math performance
  • Emotional & social factors: mood, interpersonal skills, and adaptability
  • Environmental & cultural influences on learning and development

✅ Results & Next Steps

  • A detailed report with assessment data, potential diagnoses, and tailored recommendations
  • A face-to-face review meeting (approx. 1.5 hours, scheduled two weeks after the final evaluation)
  • Guidance on accommodations, interventions, and eligibility for services
  • Additional advocacy support available for school meetings or consultations (see Consultation Services)

By providing clear insights and actionable recommendations, my goal is to empower individuals and families with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive. 🚀

counseling & intake PROCESS

✅ Counseling Intake

If you're considering counseling for yourself or your child, the first step is a brief consultation to determine if I’m the right fit.

🔹 Step 1: Email me at natalie@achievablepathways.com to schedule a phone call.
🔹 Step 2: If needed, I may send intake and/or release forms to gather relevant information

from teachers, tutors, or other professionals.
🔹 Step 3: If I’m not the best fit, I will provide referrals or guidance.
🔹 Step 4: If we move forward, we’ll schedule an initial session to set goals, track progress, and

      ensure the best approach.

✅ Assessment/Consultation Intake

If you're seeking an assessment, we’ll start with a discussion about your concerns and goals.

🔹 Step 1: Email me at natalie@achievablepathways.com with details about your needs.
🔹 Step 2: Gather and provide past evaluations, IEPs, and report cards with teacher comments.
🔹 Step 3: I will develop a customized assessment or consultation plan, including costs and

      available dates.
🔹 Step 4: If you choose to proceed, we’ll schedule assessment appointments.
🔹 Step 5: Before the first session, you’ll receive intake forms for additional

      background information.

After testing is complete, we’ll schedule a 1 to 1.5-hour parent consultation (without the student) to review results, discuss findings, and outline next steps.

I remain available for follow-ups, updates, and future consultations as needed!
