GUIDING MINDS TOWARD GREATNESS

Transform Academic Performance through Achievable Pathways

Why Choose a Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP)?

Ever heard of a Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP)?

If not, you're not alone—there are fewer than 1,800 licensed LEPs in the entire state of California! But this highly specialized credential, overseen by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners, empowers LEPs to make a profound impact on individuals facing learning and behavioral challenges.

What Can an LEP Do for You?

LEPs are uniquely trained professionals who bridge the gap between psychology and education, offering a powerful combination of expertise in learning, behavior, and mental health. We provide:

✅ Comprehensive Assessments – Identifying learning disabilities, behavioral concerns, and cognitive strengths to guide interventions.

✅ Expert Consultation – Partnering with schools and families to develop strategies for success.

✅ Personalized Interventions – Crafting treatment plans that support individuals in achieving their full potential.

✅ Specialized Recommendations – Determining eligibility for special education services, standardized testing accommodations, gifted programs, and more.

✅ Counseling & Support – Helping students, parents, and families navigate educational and emotional challenges.

Why an LEP Stands Out

Licensed Educational Psychologists bring a deep understanding of education, developmental psychology, clinical psychology, and special education, making them uniquely positioned to assess and support individuals of all ages. Whether advocating for students, diagnosing disabilities, or collaborating with other professionals—such as counselors, therapists, and psychiatrists—LEPs are dedicated to fostering academic success, emotional well-being, and personal growth.

If you or someone you know is facing learning or behavioral challenges, working with an LEP could be the key to unlocking new opportunities and brighter outcomes. 🚀

guiding minds toward greatness

The California Board of Behavioral Sciences defines LEPs as follows:

Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEPs) focus on the intersection between mental health, learning, behavior, and educational success. They work with students and families in public schools, universities, private practice, and as consultants. At a minimum they hold a master’s degree and have worked as a School Psychologist with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential for at least two years. Many also hold advanced specialist or doctoral degrees. LEPs are specially trained to provide educationally related mental health services, including providing counseling for students, parents, and families; and managing crises, such as suicidal ideation and threats of violence. LEPs conduct program evaluations to assist schools, districts, and other stakeholders in assessing the effectiveness of educational programs. They also conduct individual evaluations for and diagnosis of disabilities affecting student success; develop treatment programs to ensure student success; and work with families and educators to address students' need with the ultimate goal of educational and lifelong success. The scope of practice for LEPs is defined in California law in Business and Professions Code section 4989.14.
